Aaaghhh! The Gore effect strikes again!
Snow blankets London during global warming debate
Snow fell as the House of Commons debated Global Warming yesterday - the first October fall in the metropolis since 1922. The Mother of Parliaments was discussing the Mother of All Bills for the last time, in a marathon six hour session.

In order to combat a projected two degree centigrade rise in global temperature, the Climate Change Bill pledges the UK to reduce its carbon dioxide emissions by 80 per cent by 2050. The bill was receiving a third reading, which means both the last chance for both democratic scrutiny and consent....

Recently the American media has begun to notice the odd incongruity of saturation media coverage here which insists that global warming is both man-made and urgent, and a British public which increasingly doubts either to be true. 60 per cent of the British population now doubt the influence of humans on climate change, and more people than not think Global Warming won't be as bad "as people say".

Both figures are higher than a year ago - and the poll was taken before the non-summer of 2008, and the (latest) credit crisis.
Sounds like some people are wising up - but I thought the debate was over?
Update:
Record snows in Switzerland!
Record cold in Florida!

I'd read that OwlGore would be in Florida campaigning for the Messiah, but how'd he get there from Switzerland - private jet?

Here's bad news

Always looking for a silver lining, I had blithely assumed that the Wall Street bust had driven OwlGore and his minions under the bedcovers, if only for a few blessed weeks, but no: Googling for news of the fat fraud disclosed that he's still touring the country in his private, solar powered jet, spreading his girth and ignorance around our fifty states. Latest sighting was in Iowa, where the Nobel Prize winner assured his audience that their recent floods and tornadoes were caused by, quell surprise! - global warning!

Sure, his wacko theories were immediately debunked by meteorologists who concluded that the man doesn't understand basic meteorology, much less climate change , but do Gore acolytes listen to or hear scientists? To judge from their behavior, no.

So that's too bad. My own forecast? We're doomed to still more years of this nonsense, stretching on forever; unless, of course we're all swept out to sea by rising tides and tornadoes.

Luddites at Play

Environmentalists to solar power: Drop Dead!
I have long argued that the Greens desire to destroy modern civilization and bring back the green gardens of Eden for a select few members of the human race: them. I've been called an alarmist, an idiot and even a real estate agent but you tell me: if they don't want coal, oil, nuclear energy, solar power or wind power (if generated inside wilderness areas or within view of their homes or from their car windows), what will they support? Nothing? Then how will we survive? The Greens like to say, "by using new, wonderful technologies that would have been invented long ago if they hadn't been squashed by Dick Chaney and his oil companies and that will be, once the messiah is inaugurated" but juicy conspiracy theories have not and will not power anything. Until we learn to harness hot air.

Resurgence of the Luddites
They're coming to destroy civilization but we're not paying attention. Here's a nice round up of what these wackos are up to.

Put on your tinfoil hats!
Okay, they're tired of dumb f***s like us who don't believe in global warming so now they're going to
use more persuasive methods.
Armed with new research into what makes some people environmentally conscious and others less so, the 148,000-member American Psychological Association is stepping up efforts to foster a broader sense of eco-sensitivity that the group believes will translate into more public action to protect the planet.

“We know how to change behavior and attitudes. That is what we do,” says Yale University psychologist Alan Kazdin, association president. “We know what messages will work and what will not.”

Let them eat cake?
But not any fish served by Robert De Niro
Or we could all relax and heed the wisdom of Northern Ireland's Environmental Minister, who calls the whole man-made global fuss an hysterical pseudo-religion. I like that guy.
